A practical approach to requesting Google reviews
Make your review page easy to find and invite customers to share an honest account of their experience. A link, QR code or NFC product can reduce the steps involved, but cannot guarantee review numbers, ratings or search rankings.
1. Check your review link
Use the review-request link for the correct Google Business Profile. Test it before printing or ordering a product and check that it opens the intended business. Customers must sign into a Google Account to submit a review.
2. Invite customers consistently
Offer the same invitation after a genuine customer experience, regardless of whether feedback is likely to be positive or negative. A simple request is: “You are welcome to share an honest Google review of your experience using this link.” Avoid pressure, incentives and requests for a particular rating.
3. Make the route accessible
Use a clearly labelled link in an appropriate customer communication or a sign at your premises. NFC requires a compatible NFC-enabled phone; a printed QR code needs a compatible camera or reader. Internet access is required. Do not promise that every device can use either method.
4. Respond thoughtfully
Read both positive and critical feedback. Respond professionally when you can add useful context and protect customer privacy. There is no guaranteed ranking improvement from replying within a particular number of hours.
5. Measure without promising results
Track your own review activity over time and look for recurring service issues. Do not claim a typical three- to ten-fold increase without relevant evidence. Google determines what reviews appear and how businesses rank.
