Make it easy for diners to share their experience
A review link at your counter or on a table can make it easier for customers to find your Google review page. It cannot guarantee a rating, an immediate review or a particular increase in review numbers.
Offer the same invitation to everyone
Train staff to invite honest feedback without screening customers by whether they enjoyed their visit. A suitable request is: “If you would like to share your experience, you can leave an honest Google review using this link.” Reviewing should be optional and pressure-free.
Do not offer discounts, gifts or other incentives for reviews. Do not ask for five stars or send only satisfied diners to Google while diverting dissatisfied diners to a private form. You can offer private support to everyone alongside the same public-review opportunity.
Choose a practical placement
- At payment, where customers can scan without holding up the queue.
- On a table, with a clear explanation of what the code opens.
- Near the exit, where it is visible and safe to reach.
Check the destination regularly. A compatible NFC-enabled phone can read an NFC tag; a compatible camera or QR reader can scan a printed code. Internet access is required. Google requires customers to sign into a Google Account before submitting a review.
Respond and learn
Thank customers for specific feedback and address concerns respectfully. Never share personal booking or payment details in a public reply. Track feedback themes to improve service, rather than setting staff targets for positive ratings.
Choosing a SmarPlaque product
Check each product’s listed size, material and NFC/QR features. The optional design preview costs £0.90; a free proof is not included. Free lifetime digital destination-link changes do not alter the printed design or physical product.
